  a local elderette at my former hall (the same type person who posts selfies while out in "service") posted this public admonishment.

  the responses are so pathetic.

  Actually, a Korean family of 5 could probably do the whole thing, and for cheaper (they are the same family that beat out all those "Kingdom Cleaning Service" businesses back in the late 80's.... )

  In case you can't read the teeny tiny print, it says:

  Jason Worilds quits NFL to knock on doors as a Jehovahs Witness. 3/19/2015 120 Comments Jason Worilds gave up playing football for millions of dollars to follow his faith. Wednesday Worilds announced he was leaving the Pitsburg Stealers NFL team to further his work as a witness of Jehovah. He informed the Steelers of his retirement in a phone call Tuesday, the day he became an unrestricted free agent and one of the top linebackers available for any team to sign. The Steelers were hoping to lure him back with a multiyear contract after they paid him nearly $10 million in 2014. His 7½ sacks tied for the team lead in 2014 from his outside linebacker position. Why is Worilds walking away from the game? According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Worilds is doing so to work for his religion, Jehovah's Witnesses. The Steelers released a statement on the matter Tuesday: "We respect his decision to retire and thank him for his five years in Pittsburgh. We wish him the best in his future endeavors." After racking up 15.5 sacks with consistent quarterback pressure over the past two seasons, Worilds entered the new league year No. 10 on Around The NFL's list of the Top 101 free agents. If this is the end, Worilds will finish his five-year career with 204 tackles with 25.5 sacks. Worilds - “I appreciate all of the interest from the organizations that have reached out to us the past few days,’’ Worilds wrote on Twitter early Wednesday morning. “With that being said, after much thought & consideration I have chosen to step away from football as I have opted to pursue other interests. “I am especially grateful of the opportunity to play before some of the greatest fans in football today. Despite any concern and speculation that may ensue, I appreciate those that are respectful of my decision.”

  CO kept mispronouncing "debt"

  so, this happened a while ago - but i never posted on it.

  during a co visit, he gave a talk relating to jesus ransom (i think) and the "debt" that was owed by sin, etc.... he kept saying "debt" and he kept pronouncing the "b".

  so it sounded like "deb-t".

  this is from a blog, "news from me" that i read fairly regularly.

  mark evanier is, among other things, a comic book writer (co-writer for "groo-the wanderer), a television writer, a great raconteur, and was a close person friend of jack kirby, one of the world's greatest comic book artists.he got an email from a jw trying to explain why they come to his door.evanier's answer is well thought out, and should explain to even the densest j-dub why people really don't like being bothered.

  maybe his correspondent will take it to heart, but probably not.

  I myself, was a “born-in” JW, which means, while I was young, did not have the choice in going door to door. It was forced on me by my parents, who themselves were “encouraged” to be regular (it’s a requirement of membership.)
  
  Believe me when I say, that aside from a few zealots, no one, and I mean NO ONE, really enjoys what is called “Field Service”. The common private prayer of the day is:

  2) If they are at home, I hope the conversation is quick

  3) I hope they are pleasant to me if they answer

  4) I hope they don’t ask me if I read the magazine that I am pushing this week

  5) I hope 10:30 coffee break gets here soon.

  But, this time-wasting exercise has been going on , more or less in its current form, since the late 40’s. And one thing about JW procedures: Once in place, it takes a mammoth effort by a very conservative, crochetey bunch of Septagenarians known as “The Governing Body” to make any changes. Besides, it’s busy work. It keeps the members so busy in all this “activity” that it gives them little time to actually think about the various problems that this “ahem” cult truly has.
